On the New Multiscale Rodlike Model of Polymeric Fluids
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper is concerned with the well-posedness for the new rigid rodlike model in a polymeric fluid recently proposed by W.N. E and P.W. Zhang [Meth. Appl. Anal., 13 (2006), pp. 181–198]. The constitutive relations considered in this work are motivated by the kinetic theory. The micro equations involve five independent spatial variables (degrees of freedom): two in the configuration domain and three in the macro flow domain. We obtain the local existence of solutions with large initial data and also global existence of solutions with small Deborah and Reynolds constants in periodic domains.

Development of a rheological model for polymeric fluids based on FENE model
Rheological models for polymer solutions and melts based on the finitely extensible non-linear elastic (FENE) dumbbell theory are reviewed in this study. The FENE-P model that is a well-known Peterlin approximation of the FENE model, indicates noticeable deviation from original FENE predictions and also experimental results, especially in the transient flow. In addition, both FENE and FENE-P mo...
متن کاملOn Some Pdf Based Moment Closure Approximations of Micro-macro Models for Viscoelastic Polymeric Fluids
In this paper we will discuss several issues related to the moment-closure approximation of multiscale models for viscoelastic polymeric fluids. These moment-closure approaches are based on special ansatz for the probability density function (PDF) in the finite extensible nonlinear elastic (FENE) dumbbell micro-macro models which consists of the coupled incompressible Navier-Stokes equations an...
متن کاملInvestigation of Vacancy Defects on the Young’s Modulus of Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Composites in Axial Direction via a Multiscale Modeling Approach
In this article, the influence of various vacancy defects on the Young’s modulus of carbon nanotube (CNT) - reinforcement polymer composite in the axial direction is investigated via a structural model in ANSYS software. Their high strength can be affected by the presence of defects in the nanotubes used as reinforcements in practical nanocomposites. Molecular structural mechanics (MSM)/finite ...
متن کاملMultiscale Analysis of Transverse Cracking in Cross-Ply Laminated Beams Using the Layerwise Theory
A finite element model based on the layerwise theory is developed for the analysis of transverse cracking in cross-ply laminated beams. The numerical model is developed using the layerwise theory of Reddy, and the von Kármán type nonlinear strain field is adopted to accommodate the moderately large rotations of the beam. The finite element beam model is verified by comparing the present numeric...
متن کاملFENE Dumbbell Model and Its Several Linear and Nonlinear Closure Approximations
We present some analytical and numerical studies on the finite extendible nonlinear elasticity (FENE) model of polymeric fluids and its several moment-closure approximations. The well-posedness of the FENE model is established under the influence of a steady flow field. We further infer existence of long-time and steady-state solutions for purely symmetric or antisymmetric velocity gradients. T...
